Please join us on Sunday, September 29th, at 3 pm for a Local Memory research update and live interview!

Dr. Michael Schmidt will discuss updates to Local Memory’s first exhibit (Swing and Austin’s universities in the 1930s) and discuss his new research on the history of Western Swing in Austin between 1940 and 1955. After the update, he and Joe Dobbs, musician and librarian, will interview Dan Foster about the Texas fiddle tradition and Mr. Foster’s research on the African American fiddle tradition in Texas. The interview will be recorded for future use in Local Memory exhibits.

This event has been generously supported by the City of Austin’s Core Cultural Funding Program.
